If you are heading in for a hysterectomy, it can be daunting to plan for. It also can be confusing to know what to ask your doctor.
Here is a list of questions to get you started…what others would you add?
What type of hysterectomy are you having (write this down, or have them so you can read more later!)?
How long do they anticipate recovery to be?
How many hysterectomies have they completed?
How many women have they seen with complications and what are the most common complications they see?
Who do they recommend as a pelvic floor physical therapist nearby?
How long should you abstain from vaginal penetration post op? What about external?
Post op restrictions?
What medications do they recommend for post op?
Do they prefer to have bowel prep before surgery?
How do you get in touch with the surgeon post op for complications?
What medications (if you take them) should you stop pre op?
How might this impact my sex life?
When to go back to exercise, what types and how to know if you are overdoing it.
Is it ok to remove the steri strips and glue post op as it starts to become loose?
